I noticed the new Mount Top cafe a couple of weeks ago and we finally made our first --- and not last--- visit today. The decor is fine for a cafe. Very clean. Comfortable. Good music, but the TV had sound on as well, so that was a bit distracting. When we arrived, one person was in the place, but four other tables were seated during our visit. I ordered the catfish, their specialty. Three big crispy filets came out cooked perfectly. I like them thin and crispy and these didn't disappoint. I ordered fried okra --- nice thin batter. The corn nuggets were outstanding, too: crisp and sweet. Hubby ordered the mushroom burger with onion rings. Also a hit. Juicy burger and freshly cooked mushrooms. Well-battered onion rings with good seasoning. Everything came out piping hot, too. Just how I like it! We had to try dessert. Friendly, pink-haired Donna is not only server, she's the co-owner/manager and dessert cook. Coconut cake and coconut meringue pie didn't disappoint -- they were much like homemade and right-sized to share or eat solo. I was very interested to see Nepal food is available, and will return to try that soon. We've missed a friendly neighborhood cafe since moving here: I'm optimistic that Mount Top will fill that wish.
